Pressure expectations are something we all deal with in our everyday lives. Coaches expect performance issues on gameday; teachers expect situations in the classroom; our children expect us to fulfill our obligations to family and community; and finally, our manager sets daily expectations for job performance. Preparation is part of the puzzle.
A detailed plan of preparation will certainly lay the groundwork to successfully perform the task at hand.
Practice makes perfect! "Only perfect practice makes perfect” were words uttered by the great Green Bay Packers coach, Vince Lombardi. Fundamentals and mechanics practiced properly on a repetitive basis establishes muscle memory instrumental in athletic success ... right? We’ve all seen it before: game on the line, five seconds left, 65,000 screaming fans, a 35-yard field goal attempt looming, and a chance to be the hero or the GOAT. Why do some kickers rise to the occasion while others totally "choke"?
Nobody enters the game with a desire to fail, but their mental preparation in the moments just prior to their task profoundly dictate their success or failure. How can we overcome fears and anxiety that plague us during our most intense moments?
We’re super proud of our affiliation with Greg and we’ve had a wonderful relationship that benefited many budding kicking athletes.
